Well it just goes to show you can remake an icon an do it succesfully.
I was very sceptical but went to see it and wow I was very pleased with the result. While remaining loyal to the concept it has been brought up to date and far more appropriate for todays audiance.
I like how they have kept him bungling but at the same time made him brilliant and clever.
The casting was great, replacing 99 would have almost been more difficult than Max yet Hathaway fit into the role like a glove.
Just goes to show done well you can update an Icon. There is hope for JJ yet.Tina - Jul 04, 2008 - 05:16 PM Post subject:

Yes it's a most enjoyable movie, I've seen it twice already!
It has the feel of Get Smart but it's actually much better! (that I didn't expect) Not that the actors are so much better but the story and budget are so much bigger then anything the TV show could muster.
It's laugh out loud funny.TheWebMan - Jul 07, 2008 - 10:23 AM Post subject:
I'm going to wait for the DVD, I was a big fan of the TV series and loved all the catch phrases. I've heard the credits list both Buck Henry and Mel Brooks.
As for Star Trek, I hope that's not where they're taking it, while I might be able to take a new Kirk actor for a prequel. I wouldn't be able to get into a redo of the role for a series. My guess is that with Mr Nimoy in the movie they're not trying to do a total redo, also I guess with 3 Spocks in the movie, the movie focuses more on the Spock character than Kirk.
