I've just found out that my son's new hobby in life is to get on web-cam sites and razz the participants until he and his buddies get booted off. He's one ornery little toot! Personally I think that's a mean thing to do and also not to mention dangerous. There's a lot of crackpots out there. He said that he got them pretty hot under the collar last night.    'Course I guess razzing the martians like I've been doing isn't the smartest thing to do, also. I guess maybe the little nut doesn't fall to far from the old tree  |

To a great extent, the internet or cyberspace or the binary universe is still the Wild West and pretty much a lawless realm. However, that could change very quickly but I guess you can still get away with rudeness and underhandedness until Big Brother pulls the plug. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, keep on hacking and flaming but just donīt try it here.  |

I'm enjoying it while I can! (and trying to stay safe)
But the freedom of technology that is toppling some of the more well entrenched monopolies is great to see!
Now we just need to work on our awful "for profit" health care. |

| I'm an old dinosaur. I didn't start owning a computer let alone using one until 5yrs ago. Just the thought of actually seeing someone on a screen as you talk to them kinda gives me the heebiejeebies. I envy all the kids born in the past 25yrs who were teething on computer mouses. When I was a kid the most technological toy was a thing called Merlin. But I'm still uncomfortable with technology like this. As for health care profit, I know about that very well. I go in to get a bloodstick test every 3wks and a ct scan every three months. We have decent health insurance but it does take a toll on the old finances. The older you get the more you need done and life expectancy is getting up into the 90's anymore with the health care that's provided. But it does get mighty expensive. Maybe if not in my life time, though I wish it, there will be some reform. |

I'm not too sure how he got on those sites. I'm not a technical whizz, but he and another buddy with a camera on his computer and a mike would get on there and start dissing anyone that they thought needed it. 18yr old girls acting trashy. Men who looked like pervs. They just started saying all these mean things and getting people mad enough to boot them off. Of course they weren't the only ones doing this. Other people were helping them to get ugly to these complete strangers. They even saw some racial fights going on. Of course my son said he had nothing to do with that. He'd better not. I'll skin him alive  MY SON IS A DOPE!!! And the weird part about all of this is that he brags about it to me! Most kids will keep things like this from their parents. I guess he feels that I have a cool enough sense of humor to listen to all this crap. He had another think coming on that one. |

PS - You do not want your son to get the wrong impression on how women really interact outside the cyber realm do you? It's bad enough that mothers rarely get alone with their daughter in-laws, having their sons marry these web women would make things more complicated (IMO). |

Your opinion is a very good and valid one. Despite my son's tendencies to get on everyone's nerves he does have a modicum of common sense when it comes to women. We've had the old bird and the bees talk with him and he's fairly put off by the aggressiveness of girls in this day and age. He also knows that there are some sweeties out there, too. He hopefully will keep his eyes open for the latter, hoping he doesn't get blinded by the former. |
