Eyedropper...water with chopped , minced worm meal...you can get some at PetCo or Petsmart...or get live worms at Fishing Shop, if you don't mind food processing them....then you have to figure HOW you're gonna get them to trust you...Furry glove, black maybe. Are you gonna leave them in nest or steal them to take in?...Just because Mom is gone doesn't mean DAD isn't feeding...Why are you worried?...is it cold for them?

I get attached to my bird babies.
The parents trust me. I've been sitting out there on the porch and prunning and watering the plant every day.
Daddy I saw once yesterday. I didn't see mamma at all. I'm thinking maybe all the 4th of July loudness and smells from us lighting the kid's fireworks on the driveway scared her away. I'll see if she comes back today. |

Hey Tina,
Are the babies still nestlings (Naked and eyes closed or partly opened) or are they fledged yet? (feathered and eyes open)
What kinds of Finches are they?Purple Finches?

They're house finches. And they're only a week old. Eyes stil closed, just look like tiny puffs of cotton. |

Oh my they are tiny still if they have thier baby down still on them.
The hardest thing is to keep them warm and protected.
Has the momma come back yet?

The most important thing, at this stage, is to keep them hydrated...so tiny and I do mean tiny, amounts of bottled water in eyedropper. You CAN drown them. That's why a MEAL of FRESH wet worms would do it...plenty of moisture. Good Luck...keep me posted
