Yes, am well aware of him. We got swept by them a few weeks ago.
It was a total, homer stretch to pick them making it to the W.S., but I really do have a good feeling about the 1st round. Nobody's giving them a chance, and I think they are finally relaxed after holding the WC, blowing it, then having to claw back.
The Crew can smack homeruns like the best of them, and their offense is LONG overdue. If Gallardo has his stuff today, I'm feeling good about the game. |

There is a beast in the Phillies 4-spot name of Howard.
Walk him, even with the bases loaded, hell, especially with
the bases loaded. He drops the head of that lumber on
the ball and it doesn't matter what field he hits it to.
I've watched him do it all year against the Braves.... |
I think it was last season, Ryan Howard hit a homerun that traveled 505 feet.
This is a BIG game tonight! Huge! Gonna be dynamite!
Just like Chico said to Harpo in Animal Crackers..."Give it a big slam! A big, big slam!" Man, that was a funny game of cards! |

They'd better win at least one game, since some friends have two extra tickets for Sunday's game. I can't pass that up, given it may be a LONG time before they are in the playoffs again.
Tomorrow will be key -- if they can win with CC on the mound, there's hope. If they lose a CC game, all hope is probably lost. |

Congratulations.
Even though your team won against my old home town team, I won't hold that against you. |

Some wild things in Chillwuakee with the Chillies...
1. Pat Burrell throws from left and hits second base!
2. Jason Werth hits the roof of Chiller Park (cable support) and Craig Counsell still catches the ball!!
3. Craig Counsell has a wild batting stance with the way he holds the bat!
My Whirl Series prediction:
Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers vs. BoSox. Brooklyn in 6 games.
(I'm hoping for the Chillies vs. the Dub Sox, but I doubt that'll happen.) |

That whole hitting the cable thing was crazy. I didn't know what happened at first....but Counsel, ever the reliable veteran, made a heck of a save.
Despite the Suppan-led defeat, I had a great time at the ballpark. The crowd really was loud and into it, despite huge bumps in the road like Suppan's various miscues.
It was bittersweet -- awesome that they made the playoffs and doubly awesome that I got to see a playoff game in person....but I think the team is going to have a bunch of changes next year.
New manager (probably)....
Sheets gone (good riddance)....
CC gone (no way in hell that any teams but the elites can afford him)....
Fielder may be traded....
The offense showed flashes of brilliance but also had long stretches of unreliability. They were speculating this morning that nobody except Ryan Braun could be immune from seeing the trading block.
Will be interesting.... |
