Allotments get night guards as credit crunch sparks vegetable thefts
Allotment-holders are introducing security patrols after a surge in fruit and vegetable thefts which has been blamed on rising food prices.

And it used to be all we had to worry about were rabbits in the carrot patch.  
Time to grow a nice large healthy patch of jalepenio pepper plants. That ought to give the thieves double bang for their buck. Going in and coming out.  |

Most interesting.
Of course we've not seen similar stories here, I'm guessing that farmers would be the most likely victims.
Then too, scatter guns abound.  |

Ha! Ha! Oh, yeah! Double bang is so true! Thinking my plants would be O.K. if I just fed the squirrels was a bad idea. They even chewed two leaves of the hot pepper plants but they decided to move on (dot org). |
