The boys and I went to an amazing installation today. It was such a simple idea and so effective. Before you go on, you take a grain of rice to represent you. then you see piles of rice representing all sorts of statistics. Some were funny, 4 representing The Beatles and all those who screamed at them at their concerts. Some were clever, MLK addressing a huge crowd around the Washington Monument. Some were so sad, the number of children dying today from measles, those dying every year from preventable diseases. The number of McDonalds consumed every day was staggering, especially put alongside the children in Britain officially diagnosed as obese.
when you see the population of China in a huge mound, it's amazing, then it microscopes down the number of Chinese workers who cold live quite happily on one average British worker's wage....
