No exotic pets for children
Doctors warn that young kids should not keep hedgehogs, hamsters, lizards, and turtles as pets.

So Gorny, what is your response to the doctors who are trying to take away every little boy's experience of having lizards and snakes in their pockets?
Personally, I think some docs need to be put on a lease.   |

Meh, if this keeps up, you'll have to wrap your kid
in a sterile plastic bubble until it's 18.
Pets can be great for kids, not so much the exotic kind,
which I think people get to look exotic themselves,
but puppies for the win  |

Puppies- or kittens!!!
I've read research that being around large animals has a strong correlation with not having as many (if any) allergies when you grow older. I think that it would even include dogs and cats.
(I know I had kitties and dogs since I was little- before first grade- and I may have only a couple of allergies- and they aren't bad!) |

Honestly, if I ever have a kid, when he/she is 5-6 yrs old
I'm getting(hell with this pc, gonna use him) him a lab puppy.
I'm going to teach him the language a dog uses to communicate.
He will feed, spend time with, take care of, and enjoy every
minute he spends with that dog.
He will get in return more than he ever gave
A life lesson, almost free of charge |

A lab is a good choice- or a beagle. I'm partial to beagles. (My parents and brother have beagles, and they're a blast.)
I also could say the same thing about kitties. Once you know their language, you learn how affectionate and committed they are. |
