London, England - ,2008 – Embarking on its first feature film production in nearly 30 years, legendary British film company Hammer Films has started principle photography in Ireland on the horror thriller “The Wake Wood” with a cast that includes Aidan Gillen (“The Wire”), Eva Birthistle (“Middletown”) and Timothy Spall (“Harry Potter” series, “Sweeney Todd”). The announcement was made by Hammer Films.
Recognized as one of the preeminent horror brands in the world, the last horror film produced by Hammer Films was “To the Devil a Daughter” starring Christopher Lee in 1976.
Hammer is now being aggressively reinvigorated through new investments in the development, production, financing and distribution of film, television and digital-platform content.

| How could it possibly be the same Hammer without Michael Carreras, Anthony Hinds, Anthony Nelson Keys or even Aida Young not to mention Terence Fisher? |

No... Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Ralph Bates,Barbara Shelley ( Hammers number one female star), No Terrence Fisher.I think virtually every British actor or actress, that was around at the time was in at least one Hammer movie.
I think it wil be a very different Hammer today, where there is so much more competition.
I hope 'new Hammer' is not going to be just another generic "horror movie" maker, and end up losing its reputation, and money, then disappear into hibernation for another 30 years. |

Potential not realized or whatever - that picture is HOT! *fans herself* Mmm. Though I love Frank's Dracula the best, Lee is one sexy vampire! Yowza! He can nibble my neck any day. |
